Welcome back to Term 3. I trust everyone has had a restful break and hope your battery is recharged. I spent my holiday at home and enjoyed not having to follow tight routines. Thank you for upholding Mango Hill State School's values by ensuring your child is in full school uniform and equipped for Term 3. We also appreciate your efforts in providing the necessary equipment to help set your child up for a successful Term 3. Being well-prepared allows students to fully engage in their learning and make the most of every opportunity. Together, we can continue to support a strong and focused start to the term. This commitment reflects our shared pursuit of Excellence, Commitment, Respect, Innovation and Teamwork.
Report Cards
Semester 1 report cards will be emailed to families today. If you don’t see this email in your inbox, please check your Junk folder first, then contact the school and we’ll be happy to assist. The front page of each report card explains the scales used for academic and effort ratings. Should you have any questions or concerns, I encourage you to reach out to the relevant teacher to make an appointment for a discussion to take place. Congratulations to all students who have made improvements since their last report card and a big thank you and congratulations to those students who receive an A or B effort rating. This clearly shows that you have applied yourself and worked hard during Semester 1.
Communication
Our school community thrives when staff, parents/carers and students can share good news, talk about issues and have respectful conversations.
These tips support strong parent/carer partnerships in our school:
- contact school admin for general inquiries
- follow school processes to request meetings with teachers and staff
- use polite language in all messages.
To support positive communication between schools and families, a new resource has been developed by the Education Department that outlines shared expectations around what, how, and when schools and families communicate. This resource is designed to help foster mutual understanding and proactive collaboration.
Please see the resource below:
Contact your child's school
Follow the school's process for communicating with them—as a parent, your needs and concerns are important to your child's school. Schools have communication processes set up so your needs can be met by the right person as quickly as possible. If you aren't sure about the communication process for your child's school, contact the office and they will tell you the best way to communicate with them.
Know the outcome you want—before you contact your child's school, be clear about your needs and have some ideas about how the school can help. Make sure you begin the conversation when you're in a clear head space so you can have a constructive conversation about taking action.
Organise a time in advance—school staff want to support your child's learning and wellbeing. But, just like you, they can have limited time and juggle many priorities. Allow staff time to prepare so they can better support your family.
Plan next steps—if more communication with your child's school is needed, ask about how and when this will happen. Accommodate their needs where you can, to make the process happen as smoothly as possible.
Keep your contact details up-to-date—make sure your child's school has details on the best way to contact you.
Be patient—school staff might not be able to respond to your request immediately—but that doesn't mean you're not important to them. Allow staff to have boundaries around their communication and give them reasonable time to respond. At Mango Hill, we will try to respond within 48 hours.
Be polite and respectful—when communicating with school staff, in writing or in person, be polite. School staff deserve to be treated with respect because they, just like you, want the best outcomes for your child. Be considerate of how you're speaking and the impact it can have on the staff.
Be a team player—your child's school is on your team when it comes to supporting your child. Be open to new ideas and be prepared that you might need to compromise to reach an agreement. You and your child's school have different kinds of expertise when it comes to raising your child, and that expertise can be much more powerful when combined.

Focus of the Week
This week in Care Class we will be Learning to show Care for Environment by revisiting the consistent predictable routines that we have within the classroom and around the whole school including when we are using the facilities. As part of Team Mango, we all have an important role to play in making sure that we are in the right places at the right time and using the facilities in our school respectfully.
P&C News
We hope everyone had a fabulous and relaxing break!
At the end of last term, we held our sports day fundraising BBQs. Thank you to everyone who supported us over the two days. A special thank you goes out to our wonderful volunteers - Sandi, Kerry, Jen, Amy, Jamie and Theo, we couldn't have done it without you all. We appreciate each and every one of you!
We'd also like to thank Jodi from the Canteen, who ordered all our stock, Petrina from the school, who organised everything to be ready and available for us, the groundsmen, Shane and Scott who set it all up for us, and staff from Helping Hands, who also came down to assist.
And well done to all the students who participated, you all did an amazing job!
What's next for the P&C?
This term's major fundraiser will be a cookie drive! Detailed information about this will go out to families in the next couple of weeks, so keep an eye on your children's bags for your letters. You will have the option of opting in or out to sell the cookies, and also how many boxes you want to sell.
There will also be an opportunity to try before you buy. We will be giving free samples with coffees sold through the cafe, so stay tuned for when this will start. Trust us, you'll want to try (then buy) them, they're delicious!!!
There will also be the Father's Day stall - more information to come as this gets closer.
Canteen news
Jodi from the canteen has been very busy over the break and has updated the canteen's menu to include chicken tender wraps on Tuesdays, a pizza day on Wednesdays, and vegetarian burgers will be available throughout the week. Some items have been removed, specifically subs, chicken dogs, and some sandwiches that were not being ordered. Jodi's also looking at other changes, so keep a look out for what else is to come.
Thank you Jodi, we appreciate you doing all this in your own time!
Canteen orders must be placed by 8.00am. Any phone orders that are requested after this time, may be refused, or will be restricted to sandwiches.
The next P&C meeting is on Monday 4 August 2025 at 6:30pm at Wandani. We'd love to see you there, so pop this date in your calendars now!!!!!

Students are able to wear zip up jackets or polycotton jumpers and tracksuit pants if they are feeling the cold. Please make sure you label your jackets and jumpers to ensure a faster return to you if they are lost.

Year 1 Phonics Check
This term we will be completing the Year 1 Phonics Check with all Year 1 students. This is a mandatory universal screener, that will be done statewide will all Year 1 State school students.
It is a short check which is completed individually with each student. Students read 40 words; 20 real words and 20 nonsense words. Nonsense words are included as they provide a true indication of a student’s decoding ability. The phonics check helps us to identify students who are struggling with learning to read at an early stage.
As the phonics check is completed by teachers entering data into a secure online platform, we will be seeking parent/guardian consent. This will be sent to you via QParents by the end of the week. Please complete as soon as possible.
If you have any questions, please feel free to email me or follow the link below.

Welcome to Term 3!
I hope you all had a relaxing break and are feeling refreshed for the term ahead. A very special welcome to our new families—welcome to Team Mango!
This week, your child’s teacher will send home a class newsletter outlining the Term 3 curriculum and other key information. Please take the time to read it carefully, and don’t hesitate to contact your child’s class or specialist teacher if you have any questions.
In Week 1, we’re revisiting our school expectations, with a particular focus on respectful toilet use. You can support this at home by discussing appropriate toilet etiquette with your child—such as using the facilities properly and helping to keep the area clean.
To help us get term 3 off to a smooth start, here are a few reminders:
- Year 2 classes commence at 8:15am. Please ensure your child arrives on time each day—every day of learning matters.
- If your child is absent, please explain the absence via QParents or by emailing studentabsence@mangohillss.eq.edu.au.
- No ball games are permitted in the piazza before or after school—even under parent supervision.
- This week, you’ll receive a permission note via QParents for our HASS excursion in Week 3. As there is a short turnaround, please complete the form and finalise payment promptly. If you need any assistance, please contact the office. Unfortunately, we’re unable to accept late payments.
I’m looking forward to another term of growing, learning, and achieving together. Wishing you a fantastic week ahead!

Welcome back to Term 3
I hope you all enjoyed a wonderful winter holiday. Term 3 is shaping up to be a fantastic term, full of exciting events and opportunities for our students.
In Week 3, students will visit the Caboolture Historical Village—just a reminder that payment and consent forms are due by 23 July. We’re also looking forward to the Wandani Arts Fest and seeing our talented students perform in Wakakirri.
In English this semester, students will complete a spoken task sharing their favourite experience—an engaging and creative unit sure to inspire. In maths, our focus will be on fractions and measurement.
We’re also pleased to share that construction around the senior playground and multipurpose courts is nearly complete. It will be wonderful to see our play spaces back to normal. And don’t forget: our popular clubs will also be running this term, offering even more opportunities for students to get involved.
Deputy Principal
As always, we’ll continue to work on being kind, respectful, and responsible learners showing Care for Self, Others, Learning and Environment. Let’s make Term 3 our best term yet—full of curiosity, teamwork, and lots of fun along the way!
Let’s also not forget that coming to school everyday is an important goal we want to set for ourselves. With only 48 days of learning this term, every day at school really does count. Let’s look at our attendance data for the year so far:
Year 4 – Let’s Celebrate and Keep Striving!
Year 4 has many reasons to celebrate! Our attendance rate is holding strong at over 90%, matching last year’s Semester 1 average of 91.6%. This consistency shows the dedication of many students and families—well done!
However, we know we can do even better. Currently, 35 students fall into the zone for low attendance. If this trend continues, it could result in those students missing up to 1.5 weeks of valuable learning. Every day counts, and every student matters.
Let’s aim higher and together, we can lift our attendance rate and create even more reasons to celebrate. We believe in you, Year 4 — let’s do this!
Term 4 Calendar of Events

Welcome back to Term 3! We hope you and your family had a restful and enjoyable break.
Year 5 Camp
We are eagerly looking forward to the Year 5 Camp, which is fast approaching!
- Camp 1: 5B, 5F, 5G and 5H 4 - 6 August
- Camp 2: 5A, 5C, 5D, 5E and 5I 6 - 8 August
Thank you to all the families who have completed their permission forms and completed payments. If you are experiencing any difficulties with the payment, please don’t hesitate to contact the school office to discuss a suitable arrangement.
A friendly reminder to check the Camp Inventory List to ensure your child is fully prepared with the correct items. This helps ensure all students have a safe, comfortable and enjoyable experience.
Speaking and Listening Task
This term, students will be working on a Speaking and Listening task. They will be creating and presenting a speech designed to share, develop and expand on ideas and opinions for a particular audience.
Throughout this unit, students will:
- Organise and logically sequence their ideas
- Develop content using persuasive language and topic-specific vocabulary
- Use tone, pitch, and pace to enhance their delivery
- Practise pausing and using emphasis to strengthen key points
We are excited to see what creative and thoughtful speaking tasks our students will produce and look forward to hearing them present their ideas!
SOLE Badges
This term, many of our students are getting close to becoming a SOLE Champion – showing care for self, others, learning and the environment.
We are thrilled to see students working hard to earn their S, O, L and E badges, and I look forward to celebrating their achievements as we make announcements throughout the term.

Welcome back to Term 3!
Our Year 6 students have returned with enthusiasm as they begin their final semester of primary school. It’s a significant time filled with leadership opportunities, memorable experiences, and preparation for high school.
To start Term 3, our first group of Year 6 students attended an excursion to Parliament House. The visit was highly informative and provided valuable insights into how our government functions. This valuable experience supports our HASS units this semester, along with our English units of work. A big thank you to our teachers and the parent volunteers who helped make this learning experience possible.
Our second group of Year 6 students will attend in Week 3 of this term.
We’re looking forward to a productive and rewarding term ahead for our Year 6 students!
Danielle Price
Deputy Principal- Year 6

Mango Hill State School Athletics Carnival Review
What a huge end to Term 2 for PE with four days of the Athletics Carnival now complete. All students competed in the school Athletics and Sports Days with great effort and sportsmanship.
Congratulations to Flynn house who are crowned the 2025 Mango Hill State School Athletics Champions. The overall points for our Athletics Carnival were;
A big thank you must go to our wonderful groundsman team for all their work in setting up and to all the staff for their assistance on all days. We were also very fortunate to have so many wonderful Year 6 student leaders across the four days as well students from Mango Hill State Secondary College. I am sure they loved the opportunity to be involved but their help made the carnival so much more enjoyable for the students and easier for Mango Hill State School staff as well.
We have had a tremendous year with 22 school records falling throughout the three competitive days. Congratulations to the following students who broke school records in 2025:
