Term 1 Week 0 2025
Welcome
We are excited to be welcoming students and families to Mango Hill State School for the 2025 school year. A reminder, our ‘Meet the Teacher/Book drop off’ will be held on Friday 24 January between 8.30am – 9.30am. Unfortunately teachers and classrooms will not be available outside of these hours. Previously this event has been well attended so please be mindful to allow plenty of time to find a park. Please be respectful to our neighbours when parking in side streets.
As we have close to 1600 students enrolled at our school, during the first few weeks in particular, the school drop off and pick up zones will be busy. We ask everyone to exercise patience and safety when dropping students off and picking students up from school. Please follow ALL marked signage. Please never queue and wait for parks to become available and keep the car moving until a park becomes available. Staff will move queues along as it backs up the traffic into neighbouring streets. When parking, please be mindful of our neighbours. If able, we encourage families to actively walk/ride or bus to school. Refer to the map and table below for information on the school’s pick up and drop off zones.
Morning and Afternoon drop off and pick up options
The City of Moreton Bay regulates parking or stopping of vehicles on footpaths, bicycle paths, shared paths, dividing strips or nature strips. Please note that vehicles that are parked with two wheels on the footpath/nature strip and two wheels on the road is not considered as a lawful parking practice.
Council is legally obliged to enforce these regulations, and our Proactive School Safety Patrol Program contributes to this enforcement.
During Proactive School Safety Patrols, enforcement of unlawful parking is applied by obtaining photographic evidence and issuing a penalty infringement notice.
Council prefers that vehicle drivers are educated. For more information in relation to parking regulation and expectation please see attached our Parking around Schools Fact Sheet. Additionally, we recommend reviewing the City of Moreton Bay’s published material regarding parking. Parking - City of Moreton Bay
Communication
Our school is a busy place. To stay up-to-date with everything that is happening, it is crucial the weekly school newsletter is read. This is published every Wednesday and is emailed to parents/carers and posted on the School’s official Facebook page. Please contact the office should you like a hard copy. Please refrain from copying and sharing school posts to non-official Facebook pages but rather direct participants to the official page or newsletter for relevant information. The official Facebook page’s purpose is to share school information, build community and showcase our wonderful school, students, staff and families. When using the school’s Facebook page, be kind and courteous. Our school’s process for raising concerns/complaints will be outlined in the upcoming week 1 newsletter. The school Facebook page is not the forum to do this.
Next week's newsletter will include the Term 1 Overview outlining important dates.
