Term 1 Week 10 2024

Dear Parents and Carers
We have made it! We’ve had a successful term filled with lots of learning! This week our Year 5 students attended the Kaboom incursion and our Year 1 and 2 classes are close to completing their swimming lessons. Tomorrow our Prep – Year 2 students will be involved in the Easter Bonnet Parade. All parents/caregivers are welcome to attend. This will now be held in the Gigum Hall at 9am.
Please find attached, a link to the Term Two overview. Please be mindful that dates may change or be added to this. Keep up-to-date by reading our newsletter regularly.
Thank you to parents/caregivers for having your child in full school uniform for our school photos. Students looked neat and tidy. I’d like to thank Amanda, Jacquline and Kylie and Helping Hands helpers for volunteering their time and assisting with the smooth running of school photos.
On Wednesday afternoon our teachers will engage in folio moderation. This
opportunity allows for teachers to work together to align the marking and grades given to students’ work, aligning this to the marking guide, derived from the Australian Curriculum. Our teachers are highly skilled at moderating student work samples. Our teaching team also discuss the best next steps in student learning.
I acknowledge the hard work and commitment our staff show daily. They work long hours and are committed to doing whatever it takes to make a difference. I trust that you will join with me to thank them for the role they do.
Spelling Bee Wrap-up
Once again, thank you for your ongoing support of Team Mango. I trust everyone will be able to get some time to relax over the next fortnight. For those who celebrate Easter, Happy Easter. To all, have a wonderful break, stay safe and Mango Hill State School staff look forward to connecting in Term Two.

Easter Bonnet Parade
Due to the inclement weather the Easter Bonnet parade will now be held at Gigum Hall.
Accelerated Reader
At this end of the term, many students are making the most of the rainy weather to read and quiz on their AR books. Well done to everyone who has worked hard this term to reach their goals. Now might also be a good time to set some goals for the future – what could you achieve next term? If you’d like to get started on your new goals, you might even like to borrow a book over the holidays. I always find holidays are the very best time to start a new book!
Congratulations to Samuel who this week reached 1 million words! As you can see from his smile, he is very proud of his achievements. Samuel has been working hard all term to reach this goal. We have added his photo to our special AR Millionaire’s display.
Congratulations also to Oliver who this week reached 9.0 – the very top of AR! Oliver has been working towards this goal for awhile now, and has had to dig deep to show resilience and persistence. Congratulations Oliver!
Library bags
Sadly this week we have had to cull several books from our general collection of books because they were returned wet and mouldy. While it is tricky to keep everything dry in rainy weather, using a waterproof library bag really helps!
Library bags can be purchased from our Uniform shop, or students can use any kind of plastic bag or folder. Protecting our precious books is an important part of ‘caring for the school environment’. Please help us by taking extra special care of our books this week and during the holidays.
