Term 4 Week 10 2022

Congratulations
Our Awards Celebrations have been very well attended over the past three days. Congratulations to all parents, carers and family members who attended and celebrated the success of their loved ones. Special thanks to Federal Member for Petrie The Honourable Luke Howarth, Deputy Mayor Cr Jodie Shipway and Mr Rogers and Ms Wiebe from Mango Hill SSC for their support and attendance.
Please take a look at some photos of our Awards Celebrations below.

Twilight Carols
It was lovely to come together as a community last night and join in some Christmas carols. This was our first time holding this event so there was lots of planning and preparation. Despite a few audio issues, we loved seeing families connecting and celebrating the year. Special thanks to Ms Vaughan, Mrs Alcorn and Mrs Benfer on their work organising the event and to Ms Balaam and Ms Roberts for being great MCs. Thanks to Ian Higgins for volunteering his time to assist. Thank you also to our P & C for their drinks and snacks.
Well done to the Year 1, 3 and 5 students on their fantastic performances!

2023 Class Placements
Yesterday you should have received an email outlining your child’s class placement for 2023 with some information about beginning of year expectations and the Meet the Teacher morning on Friday 20 January. We have also included an Introduction to our Teaching Staff 2023 (included below). Thank you for being respectful of the decisions made regarding your child’s class placement.

This week we will farewell our Year 6 cohort. Each Year 6 student has played a part in our school and we thank them for their contribution. They will always hold a place in the heart of Mango Hill SS. We wish them all the best and will miss them!

Accelerated Reader
Even though it is almost time for the holidays, there are a couple of students still working hard to reach their AR goals for 2022. We are very impressed by the commitment of these students – eagerly pursuing their goals right up to the last moment!
Congratulations to Alex who reached his goal of 1 million words late last week. This is very impressive and we are very proud of his dedication to reading and AR.
Our 2022 AR display in the Hub is a great reminder of all of those Millionaire Readers – we are proud of every one of them! This special display will remain in the Hub during 2023, so we can be reminded of the talents of our Mango Hill students.
2023 will be a great opportunity for many other readers to set some AR goals and strive for these. We look forward to celebrating with them throughout the year.
Read, read and read some more!
While the Hub is now closed for borrowing, don’t forget that our local libraries are great places to find a new favourite series or author. The summer holidays are an excellent time to read, read and read! We look forward to hearing all about the new favourites in January next year!
