Prep News by Melinda White
Didn’t we have the best fun at our very first Sports Day?!
We cheered, jumped, sprinted, danced and transitioned between activities very slowly - such a wonderful reminder that we’re only five when you see us altogether and we’ve all got to move at once!
Most of all, we’ve learned new skills and tried them out. We didn’t know how to run a race before and stay in our own lane! (To be fair, some of us could still do with some practice about the own lane thing). We’ve not “competed” in long jump or high jump before. Now we have! Tick tick - our first year of school is all about tackling the unknown and giving things a go and that’s just what we did!
Special shout out to our Prep J friends and Eli especially, for their entertaining moves to our transition song.
Week 10 has been tricky for a number of our Prep friends. It’s pretty clear some of us are “at capacity” - we’ve given the semester our all, we’ve left it all out on the field. For some children, they are going home exhausted every day and being a tad crotchety at home. For some Prep friends, this has lead to some big emotions. There’s another thing we have to learn - how to manage our big emotions.
Our Prep friends have done a super job supporting their peers over the past week. They have been so kind and so caring towards their friends who are having these big emotions. As parents, you should be so proud you are raising such inclusive, kind kids! Special mention to Amelia’s mum from Year 1 who walked past a little one having a big emotion yesterday and explained it to her toddler with such kindness. As she said, “It’s important to raise inclusive kids,” and I couldn’t have put it better myself. We’re all a team at Team Mango!
I will be on leave the first two weeks back of Term 3 and our guidance officer Mrs Emma Crawshaw will be Prep Deputy in my absence. She’ll take very good care of you!

Have a lovely week
