We have another busy Term 4 in PE at Mango Hill State School. Throughout the term, more information regarding our events will be added to the newsletter, as well as emailed to parents.
Big PE Dates in Term 4
- 19 November (Friday, Wk 7) – Gala Day (Year 5-6)
- 2 December (Thursday, Wk 9) – MHSS Swimming Carnival (8-9yrs)
- 3 December (Friday, Wk 9) – MHSS Swimming Carnival (10-12yrs)
Clinics and Extra-Curricular Opportunities
In Term 4 we are lucky to have several class clinics and after school extra-curricular sporting opportunities for students. Please keep an eye out in the coming weeks for more information. This will include:
- Brisbane Roar Program (see Flyer below)
- AFL QLD Auskick Program (paid after school program)
- Sporting Schools – Cricket (free after school program)
- Sporting Schools – Taekwondo (free after school program)
PE Lessons
Physical Education lessons have started for all classes in Term 4. Below is the term overview for each year level:
Prep - In Physical Education lessons, students will develop the object-control skills of rolling, catching, bouncing, throwing and kicking through active participation in activities, games and movement challenges. They will use personal and social skills to follow rules and cooperate with others. Year 1/2 - In Physical Education lessons, students will perform fundamental movement skills of two-handed throwing and two-handed catching, soccer dribbling and basketball dribbling. They will test alternatives to solve large ball challenges and identify how the heart reacts to various physical activities. Year 3/4 - In Physical Education lessons, students will demonstrate refined striking / fielding skills and concepts in active play and games that are based on the sports of Golf and Cricket. They will apply skills, concepts and strategies to solve movement challenges in striking / fielding games. Year 5/6 - In Physical Education lessons, students will develop the specialised movement skills identified in the game of European Handball. They will explore ethical behaviour and fair play and apply these concepts within a team and a variety of physical activities. Brisbane Roar Program (Year 1-4)
The Brisbane Roar are coming to our school to complete the Roar Active Program (RAP). This program was originally going to start during Term 3 but has been rescheduled to start in Term 4. The Roar Active Program is a unique way for children to learn from the 3-time A-League champions,
This program will be fun-learning and playing the beautiful game that is football. Details for the program are:
• Dates: Tuesday 12, 19, 26 October 2021
• Times: 7:25am to 8:25am
• Open to all students in Year 1, 2, 3 and 4
