Year 1 and Year 2 News by Michelle Alcorn
Super Star Writers
How wonderful it was to see all of our little Year 1 and 2 friends back in class and ready to learn this week. I was super proud to see them using their scales to celebrate their success and plan for their next steps in writing.
In Year 1 this week we read the story Giraffes Can’t Dance and had our first go at writing a description of a new character that we think would make sense in the story. We spent time working together to brainstorm different character traits to include when describing our own character including what the character looks likes and does.
For our Year 2 students we spent our first week reading George and the Dragon and using the text to create a recount of the dragon's next day. It was wonderful to see the students use their scale to set up their learning goals and showcase what they could do. I loved seeing the different events the students wrote about, along with how it made their character feel.
Cooler Weather is Coming
This week we have started to see more and more students coming to school with school jumpers. It is great to see all our little friends in full school uniform. However as the days are still reasonably warm please remember to put your child’s name and class on the tag or in the collar of the jumper so if they leave it somewhere we can return it to them. We very much appreciate your support and thank you for ensuring they are in full school uniform each day as we see the change in seasons.
Have a great week
