MHSS Cross Country

The MHSS Cross Country is drawing closer.  This week information for our Junior (Year Prep-2) and Senior (Year 3-6) Cross Country events will be directly emailed to all parents, so please keep your eye out as this contains everything you will need to know.  Please also see the community notices below.

A reminder the dates for our Cross Country events are:

• Year 3-6: Friday week 8 - 19 March
• Year Prep-2: Tuesday week 9 - 23 March

Gala Day

Gala Day notes have now been sent home to all Year 5 and 6 students who voted to attend. Please ensure these are returned to your child’s class teacher and money is paid by Friday 5^th March so they don’t miss being nominated.

Running Club

Looking for a little extra practice to prepare for the Cross Country, or just want to burn off some extra energy prior to school…….try our MHSS Running Club!!!!

Due to the success of our Friday session we are now having two sessions each week, Thursday and Friday morning, 7.30am on the MHSS oval. Please see the flyer below for more information

Pine Rivers District AFL

 Last Thursday Mango Hill had seven students participate in the Pine Rivers District AFL Trials.  Charlie L, Angus B, Ky G, Fergus C, Naite D, Hayden B and Tyler R were up against some very stiff competition for spots in the Pine Rivers District Team.  We are proud to announce that six of our students (pictured below) were successful in gaining selection.  They will now compete at the Metropolitan North Trials next month.  Congratulations to Charlie L, Angus B, Ky G, Fergus C, Naite D and Hayden B, we wish you the best of luck!

News from our Partners – North Lakes Eels AFL

Its exciting times at the North Lakes Eels AFL Club as we draw closer to the opening of the 2021 Season. Preseason will be in full swing this week with all Junior and Youth Teams and Training Sessions being announced over the weekend.

We still have vacancies for our Pink Eels which are our dedicated female teams that we plan to field teams in the following age categories.

Under 9’s

Under 13’s

Under 15’s

We are especially looking for some players for our under 11 Pink Eels which is suitable for any of the girls from MHSS who are in Grade 5 or 6. If you have a daughter that is interested in coming to a Come N Try event please feel free to contact the North Lakes Eels via Facebook or on our website at www.northlakeseels.com.au and remember no previous AFL experience is needed to join any of our teams.

Pine Rivers District Sport Trials – Term 1

Below is a list of upcoming Pine Rivers District trials.  Most trials are limited to students turning 11 or 12 years of age and who are considered at a high level in the sport eg Div 1 or A Grade.  If you are interested in your child trialling for Pine Rivers District more information can be obtained from the Pine Rivers District School Sport Website www.pineriverssport.qld.edu.au  or Mr Nick Hills - nhill96@eq.edu.au (MHSS PE Teacher).

Please Note:

• Trial information and district forms are not available until 2 weeks prior to trial date.
• District forms must be returned by the due date for students to be nominated
• Trial fees must be paid online by 3pm on the due date

* Due to high student interest in attending the PRD Football trials, MHSS will be conducting internal trials to select the students who will attend the PRD trials.
