Every Day Counts in Year 3
You have probably heard the expression “Every day counts” when it comes to attendance at school. This is not just a catch cry. This saying is evidence-based. Please support your child to attend school every day where possible. This will help your child reach their potential. We understand that children get colds, family events arise and some absences are unavoidable. However, in cases where there is an ongoing concern with attendance we want to partner with you to find ways for your child to attend school. Please contact your child’s class teacher if you wish to discuss ways to support your child in this regard.
If you know your child is leaving school on or before the end of the term and they will not be returning to our school in 2024, please let our office staff and your child’s class teacher know as soon as possible. Likewise, if you are planning an extended holiday and will not be returning on the first day of school next year please let our office staff know the expected date of return to school in 2024.
Learning in Year 3
In Math, students are learning about money. We are exploring and learning about money and solving real world problems involving money. What a fabulous time to enjoy the many opportunities to learn about money together that you and your child experience daily! When you are paying for something, ask your child to calculate the change you expect to receive and what combination of notes and coins would make that amount. When you are playing, consider incorporating the concept of problem solving with money in your games.
Hats Please
Each and every day, students should wear their hats to and from school and at each break. Teachers are helping your children by ensuring they head off to play wearing a hat. If your child is not wearing their hat when they leave the house in the morning, please prompt them to head back into grab it as they need it at school.
Finally, I want to share a few snaps from swimming lessons …

Take care and have a wonderful week
