Year 3 News by Ellaine Warner

Warner_Ellaine.jpg

Welcome to Term 4!

Term 4 has arrived.  This is always such an exciting term as we focus on teaching and learning including Year 3 swimming lessons.  At the same time, our staff are also preparing  students for their transition to 2024.  The final two weeks of term will be particularly momentous, with Year 3 attending their first swimming carnival, performing at the Carols by Candlelight, celebrating at our Year 3 awards ceremony and meeting their 2024 class teacher and classmates.

Learning in Year 3

Our learning always starts on Day 1 each term.  Students are reading and writing poems this term, so prepare to be impressed by your child’s ideas and creativity as the term goes on! Across the term, students will consolidate their understanding in number including money.  As always, our teachers and staff collaborate closely together on this teaching.

Hats please! Each and every day, students should wear their hats to and from school and at each break.  Some Year 3 students report that they have misplaced their hat or that they are forgetting to wear it to school.  Could you please help us by doing a “stocktake” to ensure your child still has their hat.

Swimming! Today is our first day of six days (Wednesday of Week 1-6) of Swimming lessons.  In 2022 and 2023, our Principal liaised with pool management at Grace Pool to ensure clear communication and to assist staff of Grace Pool in learning a little bit about our students.

Please let your child’s class teacher know of any concerns during swimming so we can work with your child, you and Grace Pool to resolve any worries.  A reminder that you are welcome to visit swimming lessons but need to have advised your child’s class teacher of your intention so to do. Other guidelines for parents at swimming were published in an email from Ms Padgett at the end of Term 4.

Finally, I want to share a few snaps from our final day of Term 3 when classes hosted parents at the Stay and Play.  So many smiles …
